Petit Menuet & Adelita

TWO TARREGA SOLOS Petit Menuet & Adelita

Francisco Tárrega (1852 – 1909) is generally considered to be the originator of the modern method of playing the guitar.   He became professor of the guitar at the Conservatoires of Madrid and Barcelona, and taught many pupils, some of whom, such as Llobet and Pujol, became famous concert artistes.   He wrote over fifty guitar solos, and made transcriptions of classical and modern music, apart from the many studies which he used to demonstrate his method of playing.   These two solos are typical of his work, the Menuet being comparatively simple, but the Mazurka requiring a more detailed study in order to explore fully the musical possibilities.
