The haunting sound of the zither caught the imagination of audiences, and gave an authentic background to the famous film, ‘The Third Man’. Since then other film makers have copied the idea of using a special instrument to provide background music, but for older players, this tune will bring back memories every time they play it. And if you put a mute on your banjo, it can sound very like a zither.
