Cafe au Lait
CAFÉ AU LAIT
Joe Morley had a gift for writing really tuneful banjo solos; among his more than two hundred titles there are very few that are unattractive to either player or audience. His melodies ranged from the slower, quiet pieces such as Pompadour and Dresden China, to the technically difficult show-stoppers like Egyptian Princess or Zarana. This is one of the in between kind, — some really good tunes, the sort you can whistle, (or, if you are like Emile Grimshaw, write some words to fit), but still easy enough for the average banjoist to play it. There are sections in G major and E minor, with the main melody in C major and, although Morley would have rattled it off at speed, you can enjoy playing it at any tempo, — it will still sound effective.
