A Winter’s Tale
A WINTER’S TALE
I don’t know what prompted Cammeyer to give this solo the title of a Shakespeare play, because, to me, the first section sounds more like a Spring song, but the second and third sections are rather more bleak, — particularly the second. This is another typically melodic composition in the style of ‘A Harvest Song’ and ‘A Sonnet’, both of which are already in this catalogue.
Like so many of Cammeyer’s solos, it requires the fourth string tuned to D, and includes some harmonics; the final chord being an unusual example where the left hand is brought above the fingerboard to obtain the harmonics of B and D at the twelfth fret, at the same time as the G harmonic at the 17th fret on the fifth string. A footnote gives a full explanation.
