Minute Waltz by Chopin
‘MINUTE WALTZ’
by Frederic Chopin
Arranged by David Cotton
Chopin’s ‘Minute Waltz’ is interestingly named, because it’s rarely played inside a minute. For decades it has been used as the theme to a BBC radio panel game called ‘Just a Minute’.
It’s much easier to play than it sounds, the only complications coming in the higher registers towards the end of the first and final sections. The tablature fingering is purely indicative – play it however you feel most comfortable. The little grace notes in the second section add a certain charm, but can be omitted, allowing you to play more on open strings, instead of fingering the 4th string. Start relatively slowly and gradually build up speed.
If you manage to play it, with all repeats, inside a minute do let us know!
