JOY DANCE
Alfred Kirby, who died in 1949, was one of the great banjoists of his time, but was not as well-known as he should have been. He wrote over fifty banjo solos, but because he had a formidable technique, most of them are too difficult for the average amateur player, and so have never been published. Kirby’s friend and duet partner was Ernest Jones, who recorded and privately published this piece, which is different from the majority of Kirby’s output in that it is not at all difficult.
