Blush Rose
‘BLUSH ROSE’
By Joe Morley
For many years the London Banjo Cub attracted some of the finest players of the instrument to their regular meetings, and they made a point of inviting one of their number to become President for a few years, during which time he was expected to compose a special solo for the Club. Cammeyer offered them a piece with the tell-tale title ‘It’s Monday Night’, and when it was his turn, Joe Morley supplied this fast waltz. Blush Rose actually begins with a slow Introduction in six-eight time and then launches into the waltz, which has four main sections and a coda. It has the sub-heading ‘Presidential Waltz of the London Banjo Club’, and is written in the easy keys of G and C major. It has no technical difficulties and is the kind of piece which the majority of members could have played very effectively at sight.
