Two Menuets (Classical guitar solo)

MENUETS  I and II by Christian Petzold (1677 – 1733)

The first of these is is one of the best known pieces from the Anna Magdalena Bach Book of 1725, which contained manuscript copies of fairly simple pieces written by different composers.  They were collected by J.S. Bach, who was teaching his second wife to play keyboard music.   There are two Menuets by Christian Petzold, and they are usually considered as being two parts of the same piece, with the first, in a major key, being repeated after the second, which is in the tonic minor.   The original key of the first Menuet was G, but this has been transposed to A.   The second Menuet was originally in G minor, so it is here presented in A minor.   This transposition makes them easier to play on the guitar.
