Two Menuets
TWO MENUETS
These pieces are part of a Suite of six titles written in the style of an 18th century French Suite. It was usual to have two short menuets (notice the French spelling), with similar themes, but the second one in a related key, acting as the ‘meat’ in a sandwich formed by repeating the first one again. The first menuet should last just under a minute, and the second, just over a minute, so the complete performance would take about three minutes.
The pieces could satisfy any banjoist looking for something different from the usual style of Cammeyer, Morley, or Grimshaw, and an average player should have no difficulty with it.
