THE VIOLET MAZURKA
There are not many banjo solos in Mazurka time, and this is a good example. It is one of Morley’s early compositions, written in the keys of G major, E minor and C major, with no technical difficulties, and tuneful throughout. Morley marked it to be played ‘gracefully’, and the suggested tempo (in editorial brackets) is a fairly slow one because the mazurka was not danced quickly.
