Spanish Romance

Emile Grimshaw was a brilliant composer of tuneful banjo music, not only because of his gift for melody, where the tunes seem to flow so naturally, but also because they all fit so easily onto the instrument.   This piece is divided into three sections, ‘The Carnival’, ‘A Serenade’ and ‘A Spanish Dance’, with the keys changing from C minor to E flat major, and back again, — all of it so well written that it becomes a very effective solo without being difficult.   It is listed as a Grade 3 solo in the proposed BMG Federation Banjo Exam Syllabus.
