Somewhere In Dixie
SOMEWHERE IN DIXIE
George L. Lansing was one of the great American composers and this is a typical composition of his. It looks simple, but there is more to it than meets the eye immediately, so players should be very careful when and where they play the eighth and sixteenth notes, as well as watching out for the tied chords. Accurate time-keeping is essential to achieve the correct ragtime nature of this excellent example. It is a catchy, attractive piece, written in the keys of G and C major and needs to go at a fair pace—but not until you know it!
