Shuffle Along
SHUFFLE ALONG
Joe Morley was once called ‘the master of the triplet and dotted notes’, and this solo is an excellent example of his use of these rhythms. The keys of C minor and A flat major sound very well on the banjo, and the chords and runs fit fairly easily under the fingers, although there are one or two places which may need some careful attention by the average player before he can be assured of achieving a satisfactory performance. This piece was a favourite of the London Banjo Club in the 1950s, although they did tend to make it more of a ‘hurry’ than a ‘shuffle’. Don’t play it too fast!
