Rag-time Jubilee

RAG-TIME  JUBILEE

When Essex and Cammeyer dissolved their partnership in 1900, some of Morley’s compositions were initially published under Morley’s name and address, but they were republished later in the Essex catalogue.  This title was one of the group, and so can be dated to about the turn of the century, although Morley was probably playing it publicly before then.

It is a cheerful, attractive piece, typical of the period, having the usual four-bar Introduction followed by three main sections plus a short Interlude, and a four bar Coda. The keys are C, A minor, F, and D minor, all easy keys on the banjo, and the average banjoist will find no technical difficulties, while deriving  a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment from playing it.
