Pepper and Salt

This publication comes from a copy of a Morley manuscript, and is virtually the same as one written out by Dick Pepper, which has the title ‘Kentucky Jubilee’.  The solo consists of an Introduction, three movements in the keys of G, D, and C major, plus an eight bar Interlude and a Coda.  Morley packs a lot of interesting material into this piece, which includes two versions of ‘Bury Me Beneath the Willow’ and, as one of the best of his lesser-known compositions, it should be in the repertoire of all amateur banjoists.  If you are not happy with the title, but you can always call it ‘Kentucky Jubilee’.
