Peach Blossom
PEACH BLOSSOM
This is one of the less well-known solos by Joe Morley, although it was probably played by many amateurs before the first World War, having been published—according to Anthony Peabody—in 1911. It was recorded in 1914 by Olly Oakley, with Morley playing the second banjo part.
There are three tuneful sections written in the keys of G, and C major, plus a sixteen bar interlude in A minor. The third section, which sounds as if it was based on a popular song of those days, is particularly catchy, and helps to make this piece well worth playing by modern banjoists.
