The two titles ‘Palladium Rag’ and ‘The Palladium March’ are reminders of the highly successful performances of the Palladium Minstrels nearly a hundred years ago, when Joe Morley led a group of thirty banjoists. But the music does not date, and Morley’s brilliant Rag is a superb piece of banjo writing which, like so many of his compositions, appeals to players and audiences alike, with its catchy syncopations. This is a solo that should be in the repertoire of every banjoist.
