There are not many banjo solos written in the form of a Tango, although most well-known composers have contributed at least one example of the type. Bernard Sheaff’s composition is certainly one of the most played, having been a favourite of amateur BMG Orchestras for many years, and deservedly so. It also makes an excellent solo piece, especially when proper consideration is given to the dynamics. It is an attractive melody which has always appealed to both playing and non-playing audiences.
