Florida Cracker

Apparently never published in his lifetime, Morley’s manuscript of this solo was copied by an unknown hand and published in the BMG magazine in 1971.   There was an engraving error in that version but it has been corrected in this publication, which consists of four main sections.  The short Introduction and first two are in C major, ending in a modulating chord to F major for the third section, which has the melody on the fourth string.  There is a return to C major for the fourth section, and then the usual repeats.  The piece sounds best at the suggested tempo of a crotchet to 180, but it is still enjoyable when played at a slower speed.
