FAIRYFOOT
This is one of a few Alfred Kirby solos which were printed in the BMG magazine before the Second World War, this one appearing in the May 1939 issue.
As well as being a very fine banjoist, Kirby was equally competent on the piano, and so many of his banjo solos had important piano accompaniments, but as only the banjo parts were included in the BMG supplement, we do not have the four bars of piano introduction marked as a rest on the BMG version of this piece. Nevertheless, the solo is quite complete and satisfying as it is and, not being one of Kirby’s more ambitious solos, it will suit all players of average ability who would like to add to their repertoire.
