Many players will have enjoyed one of Morley’s most popular solos, — ‘Pompadour’,  — and this piece is similar in many ways.   It has grace notes forming the harmony for the melody notes which follow, and the tempo should be the same, a fairly moderate four-in-the-bar.   Some of the chords are unusual, and some are indicated to be fingered in unusual positions producing unusual sounds, so there is plenty to keep the interest of both player and listener.  The piece is written in the easy keys of C, G and F major, but players should note that Morley, who frequently omitted dynamics on his manuscripts, has been careful to indicate them here, because careful observance of them will make all the difference to a performance.
