Ad Astra
AD ASTRA
Many players consider that of over two hundred compositions, this is the finest solo Morley wrote. There is a brilliant opening movement in A minor, leading into a rousing march in A major, — an unusual key for the banjo — followed by another fine march section in D major. There is a typical Morley bridge passage of sixteen bars before a return to the D major section and, finally a reprise of the first movement. This is not an easy solo, but if you study it for a few weeks, you will be surprised how much your playing will have improved !
