During his comparatively short life, Bert Bassett wrote a number of tuneful solos which varied in difficulty, although none was beyond the ability of the average banjoist.  This piece is in the keys of F and B flat major and has some tricky but attractive rhythms, beginning with a slow melodic introduction, continuing with a lively dance, and having the usual ‘Trio’ of the period which is played twice before a repeat of the first section which ends the solo.  In this case you get an extra optional version of the Trio, with the melody played an octave higher.  Bassett recorded this solo among others in March 1912, when he was nineteen, but there is no note of when he actually wrote the piece.
