A Banjo Oddity

A BANJO ODDITY

This must be one of Morley’s most popular pieces.    It was played by the Palladium Minstrels, with Morley himself leading thirty professional banjoists, and that performance probably resulted in it being played by every amateur at one time or other.   It was, (and is), always a favourite at concerts and as a ‘party piece’, because it is easy to play, and has the famous ‘pop goes the weasel’ refrain.
