Here’s a chance to explore those little-used notes above the 17th fret, if only for a moment !   Not a piece for the absolute beginner, but ideal for the average fingerstyle banjoist who aims to improve his or her technique.   This is one of Morley’s most popular solos, making full use of his alternate finger and thumb method for the right hand, and with a superb fourth string melody.   The piece should be played as a patrol, starting very quietly, rising to a crescendo in the bass string section, and then gradually dying away to a ppp.   This is a solo which all banjoists should have in their repertoire.
