‘CANNON JIG’

This must have been one of Morley’s earliest compositions because not only does the title suggest it was written in the days of the Cakewalk, Hoe Down and Sand Dance, but it can be classified in the ‘Really Easy’ category.  Nevertheless, although it is marked ‘Lively’, and has a suggested tempo of a crotchet to 136, it shouldn’t be taken too quickly at first, because some of the triplets and dotted quavers need careful right hand fingering.   There are three movements, two in C major and one in A minor.
