Boston Ideals March
BOSTON IDEALS MARCH
Parke Hunter wrote some fine banjo solos of varying difficulty, and this one was dedicated to George L. Lansing, a well-known player, teacher, and member of the famous American fretted instrument Quartet, the ‘Boston Ideals’. They were all first class players of their instruments, so although they would be quite happy to perform easy tuneful pieces, they were also capable of playing technically difficult ones, and making them sound easy. This is one of the latter.
Don’t be surprised to find places where you are advised to play particular notes on unusual strings and at unfamiliar frets; that’s the kind of piece it is, — one for the experts or adventurous banjoists who want to improve their knowledge of the instrument, and ability to play it well.
