The Clifford Essex Music Co., Ltd., originally published this piece in 1948 as one of four in an album entitled ‘Solos for a Quieter Mood’.   The tempo is marked as a crotchet to 84, but there is a qualification ‘rubato’ under the first bar, and plenty of dynamics throughout, so performers can  present it in their own manner.   There are some harmonics which lend interest to the piece and, although it makes frequent use of the frets above the tenth, there is nothing which the average banjoist would find difficult in this gentle, melodious solo.
